History:

The man calling himself Adam Warlock is not a human being, and he is not a mutant either. He was created in the laboratories of the Enclave, a secret research team sponsored by the US government. The Enclave scientists merged DNA of unknown origin with improved human DNA when experimenting with the creation of artificial living beings. But he was just an experiment and was never intended to live, at least that was what most of his creators and their governmental sponsors believed. But of course, his creators failed to understand what he was (except maybe for the mysterious Warlock Project head, Dr. Shinski). Because he was going to be just a super-soldier prototype, and he is far more.

Government records so secret nobody officially alive can read them would tell you that he was a mistake and needs to be terminated for reasons of national security. For the US government does not have cloning technology, the US government does not thinker with alien DNA, there are no aliens much less alien DNA. Thus Adam Warlock does not exist and neither do the men who created him or the ones that hunt him.

But Adam could tell you about his brothers and sisters. He remembers their deaths, some unavoidable but most provoked by the Enclave casual cruelty. They were telempathically linked and he sensed as they vanished or died one after another. Sometimes he wonders if any of them survived and escaped. He was kept drugged all the time inside a tank of nutrient fluid, as his body was forced to grow at an accelerated rate. But he was not sleeping as his creators believed, he was aware all the time. Paralyzed but conscious and in pain, as his bones, muscles and nerves where forced to grow at unnatural speed and his metabolism was pushed beyond even his superhuman endurance.

Soon he was alone, as he lay dying he raged against his fate, then he despaired, and finally he resigned and retreated inside his mind, feeling at peace and accepting his doom. And he died.

And then the alien part of his body reacted. In death he created a cocoon-like shield around him and began to absorb energy from the universe in ways not even the sophisticated equipment of the Enclave could detect. His organism was jump-started and he resurrected, evolved and changed, both in mind and in body. He also forgot much of his previous non-quite-life, but he remembered enough. 6 days after his death Adam broke from the cocoon that the surprised scientists of the Enclave were still studying. He was an adult in body (if not in mind yet) but he was powerful beyond the wildest dreams of his creators. He killed the soldiers sent to 'subdue' him, then the ones sent to 'terminate' him, then he demolished the Beehive, the Enclave Alaskan base were he had been created, destroying 15 years of research in biotechnology as he escaped. When attacked with anti-air weapons he dived into the frozen waters of the Pacific and vanished.

Adam escaped the Beehive a year ago. Ever since he has been wandering. Adam has traveled farther than any human being has. He has been in all continents of the Earth, and has visited the Moon, Mars and Mercury, and has been as close as he has dared to the Sun and Venus surfaces. He has spoken to sages, scientists and holy men, adding learned knowledge to his innate understanding of the universe. He is looking for a place to belong, a cause to live for, maybe. So far his search has been fruitless, though the knowledge and wisdom he has gained has often been very satisfactory. Humankind is the only intelligent species he has been able to communicate with, and usually humans exasperate him as much as they fascinate him. He does not belong, and most of the time he does not want to belong either.

However, there is other version of the story:

Government records not so secret, available now to the CIA, FBI and other government agencies, explain the existence of Adam Warlock in less fantastic, though not less sinister, terms.

Adam Warlock does not exist. There is only Dr. Wladyslav Shinski, one of the brightest scientists at the US government service. A geneticists, physician and biologist without peer and chief researcher in a military installation whose whereabouts remain classified. Apparently Dr. Shinski, unknown to his colleagues and the government, was also a mutant. Abusing of the resources of the research center he was working he performed illegal experiments on his own body seeking to increase his powers. Some notes recovered from the remains of his laboratory suggest that he was also an amateur occultist and he used medieval alchemical formulae in his experiments.

Whatever he did he triggered some short of metabolic change in his organism and, after a six day comma (details scarce) he awakened in the base hospital, rejuvenated and superpowered. Then he proceeded to use his power to demolish the installation, killing over a dozen researchers and several security guards, including all his closer collaborators. Anybody who could have some idea about what had he been doing was murdered (the identities of most of the deceased, however, have also been classified). He is wanted for murder and the destruction of priceless data and equipment belonging to the US military.

There are some informs about a man calling himself Adam with an appearance matching the records on several places all around the world. Japan, Brazil, India, Egypt, etc. Interviews made by CIA agents with people that saw and spoke with him hint he is non-violent and amnesiac. Other informs link bizarre murders and acts of insane violence without surviving witnesses to the places where he was seen. The last document indicates he was seen in New York City last week.

Agents of law are recommended to be careful when dealing with him, as Shinski's powers seem to include great strength and resistance to injury as well as the ability to fly. Dr. Shinski was also considered to have a genius level intelligence. Given that he is most likely an insane psychopath murderer extreme caution is recommended.

The documents include some low quality photos of Adam's current appearance (with shorter hair), of a tall and muscular man on his fifties (Dr. Shinski) and of the same man when he was younger. The resemblance between Adam and the younger Shinski is remarkable.

Unusual physical characteristics: Unusual bronze-gold skin except around the eyes where it is black, red eyes with very small irises. Inhuman internal organ distribution, easy to detect even with a cursory medical scan: several atrophied organs, including lungs and stomach, presence of several non-human organs with unknown functions, etc.
Strength level: Adam possesses superhuman strength and is able to lift (press) about 4 tons.
Known superhuman powers: Adam Warlock possesses several apparently unrelated superhuman powers. He has superhuman strength, endurance, reflexes, intellect and eyesight, great resistance to physical injuries and virtual immunity to radiation and temperature extremes. He is able to fly at great speeds in atmospheres and even faster speeds in space, and can survive in the vacuum unaided. Adam also possesses several extra-sensorial perceptions, which give him amazing intuitive insights and empathic-like powers. His mind is very difficult to understand and control by human and mutant telepaths because of his alien structure and he recovers quickly of mental attacks. Finally, Adam can create a regenerative cocoon-like construct to heal.
Other abilities: Adam is a natural fighter and possesses an intuitive knowledge of the universe. He learns very quickly and is fluent in many human languages. He has studied the workings of the human mind and is a very sharp judge of character.
Weapons and paraphernalia: Adam needs nothing, being able to live of the air. When he has some money he spends it all in books, which he reads, memorizes and leaves anywhere.
Other notes: Adam is good looking for human aesthetic standards, but his presence is unnerving for most normal humans.
